Scientists Made An Amazing Discovery By Mapping 8000 Galaxies

Image
Calculating the stars in the cosmos is like trying to calculate the number of sand grains on a beach, it’s not possible. Even though approximations differ among different experts, the overall agreement is that there are no less than between 100 billion and 200 billion galaxies in our universe. Just think about that for a sec, and now toss in billions of stars in each galaxy. Take our home galaxy, the Milky Way Galaxy, for example, which measures nearly 120,000 light years across, and holds up to 400 billion stars. In the video below, a group of researchers collected data on more than 8000 galaxies that surround the galaxy we live in, also stated above, the Milky Way galaxy. They plotted each galaxies movement and location in space, and learned that the Milky Way galaxy is part of one massive system that covers a number of other galaxies, stated to as a super cluster.

Nikola Tesla And His Secret UFO Files

Image
One of the most prolific inventors of mankind was Nikola Tesla. Since his youth, the scientist has built invention which neither today can not be accepted in full by specialists. In this article, we chose to present one of the most mysterious and enigmatic inventions Tesla brand. It's about "first flying saucer" as he called when the illustrious inventor patented his invention. This event happened early last century, almost 100 years ago when he founded Tesla and a tower that was supposed to deliver wireless power. UFO's Tesla is based on principles which we might call strange. He is nothing more than a type, that can not leave the atmosphere because it has no propulsion system of its own but is connected to the wireless tower that exudes energy. Furthermore, the navigation system is extremely complex because it is composed of a capacitor conchoidal large enough that provide traction and other capacitors underlying direction to which were added other complex systems f...

‘Alien Megastructure’ Located 1,400 Light-Years From Earth Will Be Studied For Signs Of Life

Image
There is a mysterious star located some 1,400 light years away from Earth which has caused a massive uproar in the scientific community. Referred to as Tabby’s star, its strange light fluctuations have been claimed to be the result of an advanced alien civilization. Now, as part of a $100 million project backed by one of the greatest scientific minds on the planet –Stephen Hawking, astronomers will take a closer look at the mysterious star in hopes of finally finding out whether or not it is the conclusive evidence of alien life we have all been looking for. As part of the Breakthrough Listen project, which will spend a hundred million dollars in the next ten years, astronomers from the United States will take command of an advanced telescope in order to study the enigmatic star in depth. A team of researchers from the University of California, Barkley will try their best in order to find out whether or not there are ‘alien’ signals coming from the star or the megastructure which suppo...

NASA Scientists Found 'God' 17,000 Light Years Away

Image
Has GOD finally been discovered? Supposedly NASA Scientists believe GOD is 17,000 Light Years Away but is this all true? NASA Scientists were faced with a terrifying image that aimed at a galaxy that was 17,000 light years away. This started the speculation that the supposed Creator of Universe was finally caught on film. The Space Agency's Nuclear Spectroscopic Telescope Array or The NuSTAR was directed towards a pulsar called PSR B1509-58, and it's at an extremely staggering distance from earth. What was sent back was a masquerade of an outstretched hand which has become known as the iconic Hand of God. THE HAND OF GOD.  Scientists believe the hand to be the remnants of a star which went supernova and ejected an enormous cloud of material which left pulsar PSR B1509-58 in its wake. When the remnant cloud was viewed via high energy X-rays, it showed up as a green, red and blue hand, which is about 175 light years across. NuSTAR telescope principal investigator Fiona Harrison s...

Earth's Magnetic Poles Are Overdue For a Switch And We're Not Prepared

Earth's magnetic field is pretty adept at flipping polarity. The poles have swapped, reversing north and south, many times over the planet's history. Within the last 20 million years, Earth has fallen into the pattern of pole reversal every 200,000 to 300,000 years, and between successful swaps, the poles sometimes even attempt to reverse and then snap back into place.About 40,000 years ago, the poles made one such unsuccessful attempt, and the last full swap was about 780,000 years ago, so we're a bit overdue for a pole reversal based on the established pattern. The planet's magnetic field is already shifting, which could signify the poles are preparing to flip, and while we can't yet confirm that a reversal is on the near horizon, it is well within the realm of possibility. While a pole reversal isn't entirely uncommon when you consider Earth's history, this time it could have serious implications for humanity. To try to determine whether or not a flip is ...

Chinese Space Station Tiangong-1 Has Finally Fallen From the Sky

Image
A Chinese space station has come crashing down. Tiangong-1, which translates to “Heavenly Palace”, fell to Earth on 1 April. Despite the date, this wasn’t a prank. Most of the 10.4-metre-long space station burned up as it hurtled through the atmosphere, but a few pieces may have remained intact and splashed down in the southern Pacific Ocean, just north-west of Tahiti. Related image For the past two years, the space lab has been spiraling ever closer to Earth. It was difficult to predict when it would enter Earth’s atmosphere because it was moving so fast. “It’s going at 17 thousand miles an hour, so if you’re off by an hour you’re off by 17 thousand miles,” Jonathan McDowell at the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Astronomers and space flight enthusiasts tracked Tiangong-1’s return to Earth with radar measurements and data from a satellite-tracking website run by the US Department of Defense. Tiangong-1, China's first space station, has fall...

Astronomers Just Revealed The Sharpest Ever Image Of A Star In Another Solar System

An international team of astronomers from Chile and Germany has managed to capture an image of unprecedented detail of another star — that isn’t the Sun — the red supergiant star Antares. The team has also made the first map of the velocities of material in the atmosphere of a star other than the Sun, revealing unexpected turbulence in the extended atmosphere of Antares. Antares, also designated Alpha Scorpii, is a well-studied, close red supergiant star at a distance of 554 light years. It is the fifteenth-brightest star in the night sky and the brightest star in the constellation of Scorpius. With a diameter about 700 times that of the Sun and a mass about 12 times solar, Antares is one of largest stars. It is thought that Antares started life with a mass more like 15 times that of the Sun, and has shed three solar-masses of material during its life. To directly see the gas motions in its atmosphere, Dr. Keiichi Ohnaka of the Universidad Católica del Norte in Chile and co-authors obs...

MIT Just Created Living Plants That Glow Like A Lamp, And Could Grow Glowing Trees To Replace Streetlights

Roads of the future could be lit by glowing trees instead of streetlamps, thanks to a breakthrough in creating bioluminescent plants. Experts injected specialized nanoparticles into the leaves of a watercress plant, which caused it to give off a dim light for nearly four hours. This could solve lots of problems. The chemical involved, which produced enough light to read a book by, is the same as is used by fireflies to create their characteristic shine. To create their glowing plants, engineers from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) turned to an enzyme called luciferase. Luciferase acts on a molecule called luciferin, causing it to emit light. Roads of the future could be lit by glowing trees instead of streetlamps, thanks to a breakthrough in creating bioluminescent plants. Experts created a watercress plant which caused it to glow for nearly four hours and gave off enough light to illuminate this book Another molecule called Co-enzyme A helps the process along by removi...

Earth’s Rotation Is Mysteriously Slowing Down

Planet Earth’s rotation has slown down and scientists are saying this is a sign there will be an increase in earthquakes in 2018. According to The Guardian, Earth’s change in speed could potentially trigger severe seismic activities, with a particular focus on densely populated tropical regions. While we may not notice the variations in Earth’s speed we will most certainly feel its effects in the number of earthquakes it could potentially dole out. According to Forbes, Geophysicists have been measuring Earth’s rotation speed carefully and they believe its slow down is linked to a ‘cyclical increase in earthquakes’. Their study began with an analysis of every earthquake to have taken place since 1900 which reached a magnitude of 7.0 or above. What the research team were looking for was an ‘occurrence of large earthquakes’. What they discovered was around every 32 years there was an ‘uptick’ in the amount of ‘significant earthquakes’ across Earth. As with all research teams they needed t...

It's Not A Meteor - Something Massive Just Entered Earth's Atmosphere

The people behind the YouTube channel BPEarthWatch have revealed that a huge object that is not a meteor has entered into the atmosphere of Earth on December 2. BPEarthWatch monitor meteor radar data that is incoming and then delivers facts about it and up to now they have done a good job doing so. In the video, the operator of the channel explains that when objects or meteors hit the upper atmosphere of the Earth, they have signatures that are picked up electronically by a VHF transmitter and a receiver system. A CLOAKED SPACE SHIP? The system then bounces a signal from the ionosphere of the Earth, and it can identify the ionization trail of an object that is incoming, and this can then be converted over to data that is tangible. BPEarthWatch has said that the signal they received on December 2 did not have Sporadic E, which is a false signal that is found only in the summer months. They said that what was seen was something very different and it was very big and had come in very slow...

This Awesome Periodic Table Tells You How to Actually Use All Those Elements

Image
Thanks to high school, we've all got a pretty good idea about what's on the periodic table. But whether you're looking at something common like calcium, iron, and carbon, or something more obscure like krypton and antimony, how well do you know their functions? Could you name just one practical application for vanadium or ruthenium? Lucky for us, Keith Enevoldsen from elements.wlonk.com has come up with this awesome periodic table that gives you at least one example for every single element (except for those weird superheavy elements that don't actually exist in nature). There's thulium for laser eye surgery, cerium for lighter flints, and krypton for flashlights. You've got strontium for fireworks, and xenon for high-intensity lamps inside lighthouses. Oh and that very patriotic element, americium? We use that in smoke detectors. First unveiled in 1945 during the Manhattan Project, americium is produced by bombarding plutonium with neutrons in a nuclear reactor...

170 Million Americans Are Drinking Radioactive Water. This Interactive Map Shows If You Are Too.

Image
An alarming new investigation has revealed that over half of the drinking water in the US contains radioactive elements. The Environmental Working Group (EWG) have found that a good portion of the drinking water in all 50 states contains radioactive elements that may increase one's risk of cancer. The EWG analyzed almost 50,000 public water systems and discovered that the water supply consumed by 170 million Americans contains radioactive elements. In 27 states, water supplies were found to exceed the EPA's legal limits. The most common radioactive element the EWG found was radium. Radium enters groundwater naturally though deposits in the Earth's crust. Levels are higher when activities such as oil gas drilling disturbs the deposits from the rock and the soil. When this occurs, it releases ions and is known as "ionizing" .  The EPA categorizes all ionized radiation as carcinogenic and  sets safe levels , which are then enforced. In 158 public water systems used b...

We Just Discovered 72 New Galaxies, Which Means Trillions of New Alien Worlds

Image
Astronomers just discovered 72 never-before-seen galaxies using the  Multi Unit Spectroscopic Explorer (MUSE)  instrument on the  ESO’s   Very Large Telescope (VLT) in Chile as part of the deepest spectroscopic survey ever conducted. These galaxies are all located in a relatively small area of space known as the Hubble Ultra Deep Field (HUDF). Over the last decade, this area has been the target of a wealth of observation, but it wasn’t until scientists were able to look at it using MUSE that these 72 galaxies became visible. This is because these galaxies are Lyman-alpha emitters, meaning they only shine brightly in one color of light. Unlike the other telescopes used to study the HUDF, MUSE uses spectroscopy to break light into its component colors. “This allows us to measure the distance, colors, and other properties of all the galaxies we can see — including some that are invisible to Hubble itself,” Roland Bacon of  Lyon Centre for Astrophysics Research (CRAL) , who led the MUSE HU...

Flat Earth Society's Response To Elon Musk's Tweet Is The Most Stupid Thing You Will Read Today

Image
If you think the Earth is flat, then you’re on the wrong website. Seriously, what are you doing here? Why aren’t you venturing to the icy mountainous rim around the edges, bravely peeking underneath and seeing what’s on the other side of this galactic space Frisbee? Good luck with that. Incidentally, somewhere else that you don't expect to see flat Earth peons is on Elon Musk's Twitter profile – but this is 2017, where logic is about as relevant as witchcraft. Musk, a man known for his cosmic ventures, giant batteries, and curious, pun-filled tweet threads, openly wondered the other day why there isn’t a Flat Mars Society. After all, there’s a Flat Earth Society, whose adherents are just as odd as you’d expect them to be. Is Earth the only planet that’s flat? Well, ladies and gentlemen, we have an enormous, game-changing spoiler for you. The official Twitter account of the Flat Earth Society responded to Musk’s tweet, and they have claimed that Mars, unlike the Earth, is absolu...

In 1.3 Million Years, Our Solar System Will Briefly Contain Two Stars

The Sun is used to having plenty of personal space, given that its nearest stellar neighbor, the Alpha Centauri system, is located about four light years away. While that's not very distant in cosmic terms, it's wide enough for our solar system to not be influenced by these alien stars. But in about 1.3 million years, a star named Gliese 710, which is about 60 percent as massive as the Sun, is projected to interrupt the Sun's hermitude by crashing right on through the far-flung reaches of the solar system. While astronomers have been aware of this stellar meetup for years, new observations from the European Space Agency's Gaia satellite,  released on Thursday , have constrained the trajectory of Gliese 710's impending visit, and charted out nearly 100 other upcoming close encounters with wandering stars. According to the Gaia team, Gliese 710 will swoop through the Oort cloud, a vast shell of icy debris at the outer limits of the solar system, at a distance of rough...

Possible Habitable Planets Found Hiding In Kepler Data May Be Great Bets For Life

Image
Astronomers have discovered a host of habitable planets hiding in data from the Kepler space telescope, which may include some of the best candidates for finding life outside the Solar System. The data comes from Kepler’s first run of observations, from 2009 to 2013, when the telescope was pointed at one region of the sky. Led by Susan Thompson from the SETI Institute in California, the team found 20 promising candidates for Earth-like worlds, orbiting Sun-like stars on similar orbits to our own. A pre-print of their findings is available on arXiv . One in particular, KOI-7923.01, looks particularly promising. It is 97 percent the size of Earth, and orbits its star in 395 days. It’s slightly further from its star than Earth is from the Sun, which means it is likely a bit colder than our planet, with tundra-like conditions. “If you had to choose one to send a spacecraft to, it’s not a bad option,” Jeff Coughlin from NASA’s Ames Research Center, a co-author on the paper, told New Scienti...

MICHIO KAKU: "Star Trek-Style Teleportation Is Possible And We Could Be Beaming To Other Planets Within Decades"

Image
Star Trek is by now said to have encouraged a whole host of current devices from the iPad to the holodeck's 'virtual reality'. Now a very famous theoretical physicist says that even its teleporter is technically very much possible, and it could become an actuality before the end of the century. Professor Michio Kaku said that the several breakthroughs required to transport humans rapidly have already been made, and it's not far when we will be 'beaming' across the cosmos. Michio Kaku is a professor at City University in New York.  Dr Michio Kaku said “You know the expression "Beam me up Scotty"? We used to laugh at it. We used to laugh when someone talked about teleportation, but we don't laugh anymore. Quantum teleportation already exists [and] I think within a decade we will teleport the first molecule.” He also said that, as humans we have already achieved this at an atomic level,  reports  The Express.  The phenomenon is called quantum entangle...

Confirmed: Earth-Like Planet Discovered Just 4 Light Years Away

Image
European Southern Observatory (ESO) officials have finally confirmed that they have discovered a new exoplanet candidate named Proxima b inside the habitable zone of Proxima Centauri - a red dwarf star in our closest neighbouring star system, Alpha Centauri. style="display:inline-block;width:336px;height:280px" data-ad-client="ca-pub-4840348800521327" data-ad-slot="2995026445"> This is gigantic news, because it means an Earth-like planet could lie just 4.2 light-years away from us, and has the potential to support life. Further research is needed to confirm the characteristics of its atmosphere and the possibility of liquid water on its surface, but the team already has plans on how to get us there.“Many exoplanets have been found and many more will be found, but searching for the closest potential Earth-analog and succeeding has been the experience of a lifetime for all of us,” team member Guillem Anglada-Escudé from Queen Mary Universit...

"A Greater Survival Threat Than Asteroids" --NASA Proposes a Solution for Earth's 20 Supervolcanoes That Erupt Once Every 100,000 Years

Image
There are around 20 known supervolcanoes on Earth, with major eruptions occurring on average once every 100,000 years, according to the BBC resulting in mass starvation, with a prolonged volcanic winter potentially prohibiting civilization from having enough food for the current population. In 2012, adds the BBC, the United Nations estimated that food reserves worldwide would last 74 days. NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory scientist Brian Cox said that "I came to the conclusion that the supervolcano threat is substantially greater than the asteroid or comet threat." He proposes that the logical solution could simply be to cool a supervolcano down by extracting its heat. NASA estimates that if a 35% increase in heat transfer from the Yellowstone supervolcano --essentially a gigantic heat generator, equivalent to six industrial power plants--could be achieved from its magma chamber, it would no longer pose a threat. Six hundred thousand years ago there was a colossal explosion fro...
